Free Kurling session

A free taster session to encourage more people to do New Age Kurling will be held at the Fulforth Centre, Front Street, Sacriston, on Thursday, January 23 , between 1.30 and 2.30pm. The cost of the weekly sessions, which are run by Age UK, is usually £2.

Plan approved: McCarrick Construction has won planning permission from Durham County Council to turn a garage building three into three homes, with parking and access, at the Lambton Arms pub, Front Street, Chester-le-Street.

Rock night: Rock band FM will be playing at the Barley Mow pub, Durham Road, Birtley, on Thursday evening (January 16). The gig starts at 9pm and admission is free.

Knock back: Durham County Council planners have refused planning permission for an application to convert a redundant barn into a detached dwelling at Papermill Cottage, Beamish.
