A UNIVERSITY graduate from Ferryhill has joined a college’s staff in a bid to boost his chances of landing his dream job.

Simon Meek, 23, qualified from Teesside University last year with a degree in marketing and advertising.

He is one of four graduates from the Middlesbrough-based university who has been taken on by Bishop Auckland College.

Mr Meek has been hired on a three month internship and he will concentrate on digital marketing.

Joining him on internship at the college are fellow students Adam Hudson, Steff Ellis and Thomas Edgar.

Kevin Burns, the college’s head of marketing and schools liaison, said: “This will offer invaluable industry experience which will hopefully give them an advantage in the jobs market.

“We have an ideal opportunity to learn from four recent graduates how we can improve our marketing to attract young people to study here from across south Durham.”

Andrew Abbey, deputy director of student services at the university, said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with Bishop Auckland College to provide four highly skilled and ambitious graduates.”
