DETECTIVES in York are investigating an armed robbery at a convenience shop in the city.
Two men went into McColl’s convenience store on Crichton Avenue, in the Clifton area of the city, at about 9.25pm on Saturday (January 18), where they threatened two members of staff with knives before escaping with cash from the till.
The shop workers were not harmed but were left very shocked by the ordeal. There were no customers in the shop at the time of the incident.
Extensive police enquiries remain ongoing to locate the suspects, including forensic examinations at the scene and analysis CCTV in the area.
Both men were wearing hooded tops and scarves over their faces to hide their identity.
Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police immediately on 101 and ask for York CID.
