A NEW group for businesswomen based in part of rural County Durham will be launched later this month.

The Teesdale branch of Women in Rural Enterprise (WiRE) will hold its first networking meeting at The Hub, in Barnard Castle, on Thursday, January 30.

There will be a chance to get to know others and help plan the future format for meetings and visits Future ideas include taster sessions, member business spotlights and visits to successful enterprises.

Alex Nicholson, the Teesdale group's volunteer network leader, said meetings would provide an opportunity for women in business in the dale to get together in an informal setting to discuss the issues which effect them and draw upon the experiences of others.

“WiRE has set up local groups for female entrepreneurs all over the UK.

“We are really looking forward to being part of this group and celebrating the diverse range of rural businesses we have in the area.”

Following next week's event, which runs from 9.30am to 11.30am, regular meetings will take place on the last Thursday of the month.
