BUSINESSES and other organisations are beiung urged to join a successful scheme which provides activities for young people.

ActDivertz is a joint initiative between North Yorkshire Police, Broadacres Housing Association, Youth Support Service and Hambleton Community Safety Partnership.

The group, which has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, organise events and activities for young people in Northallerton and the surrounding villages.

Activities planned for 2014 include holiday discos for Valentine’s Day, Easter, school leavers day and Christmas, an adventure day, football festival, a scooter and skateboarding event and a games festival.

Sergeant Simon Wilson said: “We are looking for local businesses and organisations who want to do something positive for young people in their area to get in touch. We all meet on a voluntary basis but have the backing of our organisations for the work we do.”

He added: “It would be great to expand the group and get some new members who could get involved and provide new ideas or opportunities. That could be anything from providing prizes or venues, through to getting involved with the organisation of our various events and activities. All help will be greatly appreciated.”

Interested groups should contact Sergeant Wilson by calling 101, selecting option two and ask for him by name or email simon.wilson@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
