It will be giving updates on recent developments and discussing the latest initiatives and plans, including its work to redesign older people’s services. Saving fuel: People living in the Ryedale area are being urged to find out more about ways to reduce oil bills by up to ten per cent. Village hall meetings are being held at Cropton on February 4 from 10am to 2pm; Weaverthorpe between 2pm and 4pm on February 15; Foxholes at 7pm on March 24. There are also events at the Old Vicarage in Helmsley on February 19 at 7.15pm and Thornton-le-Dale village hall at 7pm.

Golden anniversary: York Hospital Radio will celebrate 50 years on the air this weekend. Events to mark the anniversary include a special live broadcast on Saturday morning from the Yorkshire Museum and a live programme from noon on Sunday featuring members past and present, speaking about their personal memories of their time at the Hospital Radio.

Foodbank figure: Almost 300 people have benefited from the Ryedale Foodbank in the six months since it was set up. Initially set up at Hope Central, in Malton, it is now open twice a week in Pickering, with collection boxes in the town and at various locations in Kirkbymoorside.
