A RETIRED Army medical officer is appealing for raffle prizes for a fundraising barbecue he is organising in support of a military charity.

Dr Ian Bagshaw, from Hurworth, who is also a retired GP, will host the ‘Bear-B-Q’ fundraiser for Help for Heroes in the village in June.

As well as the barbecue, there will also be entertainment from tribute band the Pretend Beatles.

Dr Bagshaw has a great affinity for members of the Armed Forces and has been a keen support of Help for Heroes since it was formed in 2007.

At this very early state of preparation, he is keen to attract offers of raffle prizes – such as gift tokens, vouchers, wine, chocolates, toiletries and plants.

Any cash gifts will be used to purchase prizes.

Tickets will go on sale nearer to the event, which will be held at Hurworth Grange on Saturday, June 28, at 7pm.

Raffle prizes and offers can be made to Dr Bagshaw at Rockliffe Pharmacy, Rockliffe Court, Hurworth Place, DL2 2BJ.
