A CHARITY dance helped raise more than £2,500 for good causes in the North-East.

The Hurworth village Christmas charity dance, held on Saturday, December 21, at Hurworth Grange Community Centre, Hurworth, near Darlington, raised £2,550 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service and the renal unit at James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.

The money has been split equally between the two charities and cheques were presented at an event earlier this month.

More than 160 people attended the event, organised by Geoff Corner, Rod Fidell, Colin Ward and Jim Manning.

Mr Corner said: “We would like to thank everyone who helped make the event a success, including everyone who donated prizes towards the raffle.

“It was a brilliant event.”
