A GROUP of keep-fit fantatics have raised £1,800 towards an appeal for a girl battling a rare cancer by completing a marathon work-out session.

Fifty-five people took part in a two-and-a-half hour zumbathon at Hambleton Forum, overseen by five instructors.

The event was held as part of the £500,000 drive to raise funds for pioneering treatment in the US for RAF Leeming Community School pupil Fraja Simpson, who has MYCN-amplified neuroblastoma.

Scores of local businesses and residents donated prizes for a raffle, which was drawn by Fraja.

Organiser Tina Fiorentino said: “The support was incredible and the atmosphere was amazing.

“It got even better when Fraja and her mum, Michelle, turned up to support us for the last 30 minutes.

“Seeing Fraja really made it all worth while, she is a special little girl and looked adorable in her pretty dress and pink coat.”

Mrs Fiorentino said she is hoping for further donation to achieve her target of £2,000 from the event.
