LEYBURN Livestock Market will hold an auction to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance on Friday, February 28. The sale will feature more than 100 lots, including a day’s fishing, half a tone of barley and house cleaning services. Auctioneer Stephen Walker said its previous event for the charity raised £13,000. He said: “Being in a rural area, a lot of our customers have either used or know somebody who has used the air ambulance, so it is close to our hearts.” To donate lots, call 01696-623167.
ELDERLY FOCUS: Greyfriars extra care housing scheme, in Richmond, will hold a Mad Hatters Tea Party as part of a Dignity Day on Monday (February 3). The event, from 11am to 4pm, aims to raise awareness of the elderly and will include a talk by a Mad Hatters Tea Company representative, tea, cakes and sandwiches and entertainment by musician Shirley Hopwood. Entry is free.
