CHRIS Lloyd, deputy editor of The Northern Echo, will give a talk, entitled ‘Attacking the devil and sinking the unsinkable: W.T. Stead and the Titanic’, at Aycliffe Village Local History Society’s next meeting. Entry to the event, which takes place from 7pm on Wednesday, February 12, at Aycliffe Village Hall, is £1 for members and £3 for non-members, including hot drinks and biscuits. Contact 01325-301093.

WI MEETING: Bishop Middleham Women’s Institute will hold its next meeting at the Village Hall from 7pm to 9pm on Tuesday, February 18. The meeting will feature a birthday buffet, quiz and raffle. Visitors and new members are always welcome. For more information, contact 01740-654956.

PRINCESS CLUB: The Princess Club will return to Trimdon Village Hall, from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, March 2. The session, which costs £10 per child, sees youngsters, aged two years and over, spend time with a variety of fairy story characters and enjoy activities such as singing, dancing, crafts, storytelling and mini makeovers.
