Final days to register for the Big Community Switch and save money on gas and electricity bills
Updated 2:33pm Saturday 8th February 2014 in News
TIME is running out for residents to take part in the latest round of Darlington’s Big Community Switch.
Residents, businesses and community organisations have until Monday, February 17 to register for the latest round of the energy switching scheme, which uses collective bargaining to secure better deals for gas and electric supplies.
The second round of the community switch follows the success of the first stage of the project, where 80 households saved a combined total of £16,000 a year by teaming up to switch suppliers.
Darlington Borough Council joined the Big Community Switch, powered by iChoosr, in September last year to help residents save money on their energy bills.
Councillor Chris McEwan, the council’s cabinet member for economy and regeneration, said: “It’s not too late to save money on your bills. It is free to register and there is no obligation to switch once you have registered.
“Local people are already making savings. Make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to join them.”
Anyone who registered for the last round but decided not to switch can register again for free. Businesses and Community organisations can also register for free.

Callers should have a current energy bill to hand.
