Transports boss donates £450 to Sunday League team in West Auckland
FOOTBALLERS are taking to the field in new strips after a West Auckland transport boss donated £450 to a non-league club.
Frank Hudson gave the money to buy Adidas strips for Wear Valley Sunday League Division One side West Auckland Working Men’s Club Football Club.
Mr Hudson, who owns Frank Hudson Transport, in West Auckland, donated the funds after he was asked to help by one of his workers, lorry driver Glenn Hendrix, 26.
Mr Hendrix, a striker for the club, said: “We decided to ask him to help us as we needed a new sponsor.
“He’s really into his football and his ambition is to own a football team and he decided that he wanted to put money into a local football team.
“We are absolutely over the moon that he has bought us some new strips.”
Mr Hudson also sponsors Shildon Football Club as his son, Mark Hudson, plays for the Northern League team.
He also backs The Frank Hudson Transport Crook and District League.
Mr Hudson said: “They approached me as said they were struggling so I said I would help them.
“The shirts have my name on them and next season I plan to give them some more money to help cover their costs.”
