A GIRLS football team reached the quarter-finals of a nation schools competition before being knocked out.
Year 9 and 10 pupils from St John’s School & Sixth Form College, in Bishop Auckland, beat teams from Wakefield, Huddesfield and Kepier School, in Houghton-le-Spring along the way.
This resulted in a trip to Cheshire were they played a team from Congleton School, which contained an Everton striker and Manchester United and England midfield.
Despite battling bravely against a strong team and poor weather conditions they lost.
