PUPILS at Polam Hall School took to the catwalk, raising more than £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation.

About 50 senior and junior students took part in the fashion show, from managing the lighting to modelling the outfits.

The charity was chosen by pupils, after a student’s parent died from heart disease.

This decision was strengthened after the pupils discovered headteacher John Moreland has connections to the charity after his son had a heart transplant nine years ago.

Mr Moreland said: “Polam Hall’s annual fashion show is a great opportunity for our students to develop their leadership skills, to work as a team and to achieve a really worthwhile goal.

“This year the goal was to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, a cause that has personally touched the lives of a core group of sixth formers at Polam Hall and my own family.”

The total amount raised so far is more than £1,000 it is hoped to top last year’s total of £1,200.

Polam Hall, currently an independent school, is applying to become a free school from next year.
