A POPULAR drama group will show audience members they can have their cake and eat it with its next production.
Rehearsals are now underway for Sedgefield Players next dramatic offering, Waiting for Gateaux, which charts the fortunes of the worst health and fitness club in the country.
The play, which was written by Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood, will be performed at the Parish Hall in Sedgefield, County Durham, from Thursday, March 27 to Saturday March 29.
Run by Maureen, a ‘big-boned’ widow, Mo-tivators meets at a small hall in the middle of nowhere and attracts clientele with nothing better to do.
Jackie attends to get away from her philandering husband, while Donald comes because he secretly loves Maureen and has already lost 12 stone building up the nerve to ask her out.
Things seem to be looking up when a researcher for a reality TV programme, comes to check out the club but an unforeseen snowstorm brings with it revelations that will change their lives forever.
Elizabeth Flanagan, of Sedgefield Players, said described it as a comedy about “friendship, frostbite and French fries,” adding: “For all those who have ever been on a diet, this play will show some very memorable moments.”
Tickets are available from group members and Tickety Boo on the High Street.
