PLACES are available on a free felt-making workshop in Teesdale.

The Heart of Teesdale Landscape Partnership is hosting the event at Winston village hall, on Saturday, March 29, from 10am to 4pm, as part of its Crafts and Skills in the Community programme.

The initiative aims to encourage the revival and use of traditional and modern crafts.

During the one-day course, participants will learn about basic wet and three–dimensional felting techniques.

The tutor, Natasha Wake, will explore the various types of fleece used in felt-making, including the Teeswater fleece that comes from a rare breed of sheep native to the area.

Participants will create a small ornamental felt pot to take home.

The course is aimed at beginners so no previous experience is required and all materials and tools will be provided.

Booking is required.

Call Susie Lane, community officer at the Heart of Teesdale Landscape Partnership, on 0300-026-4903 or email: susanne.lane@durham.gov.uk.
