TV stunt drivers to show off at open evening
Updated 5:15pm Monday 3rd March 2014 in News
STUNT drivers who have appeared on Top Gear will be demonstrating their skills at a college open evening.
Paul Swift and Mark Thornton will showcase their expert handling of high performance cars in the car park of Bishop Auckland College tomorrow (Tuesday, March 4) night.
There will be an opportunity for people to accompany the drivers and Durham Autoclub will also be putting on a demonstration.
In addition, the construction department will be open for visitors to have a go at brickwork, painting and decorating and joinery.
Music and performing arts students will be putting on a performance, hair and beauty salons will be open for nail art, and there will be sports activities on offer, including the climbing wall, golf, badminton and basketball.
Curriculum staff will be on hand to offer advice and guidance on all courses on offer this year.
Principal Natalie Davison said: “Last October when Durham Autoclub put on their first demo was probably the best attended open evening we have ever had, with more than 500 people visiting during the course of the night.
“Making events like this more interactive, enabling prospective students to experience a taste of what we can offer here is much better than just sitting down giving course advice, and we are hoping for another busy night tomorrow.”
The open event is open from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the college's main campus in Woodhouse Lane.
