SHOWS, workshops and complementary therapy sessions will be taking place across York for International Women’s Week.
More than 60 events are lined up to take place in the city between Saturday, March 8 and Saturday, March 15. The Lord Mayor of York, Julie Gunnell has booked six events to take place in city’s Mansion House, the Lord Mayor’s official residence, and other events will be taking place at community centres, hotels and arts venues across the city.
Events include a national Aviva workshop focusing on women in business, belly dancing in Wigginton, a clothes and accessories swap at Clements Hall in support of a Pakistan women’s charity, a women’s evening a the Dean Court Open House and previews of shows including Blazing Grannies and King David’s Wives, before they head to the Edinburgh Fringe festival.
The event is designed to highlight issues of concern for women in countries across the world.
