A NEW dance craze which offers a chance to get fit, lose weight and meet new friends is kicking off in Durham this month.
A new concept in dance parties - Lindy Jazz, is to be launched at Che Vita's restaurant, Station Road, Durham, next Sunday, January 14.
Those attending can join in or watch foot-tapping, finger-snapping 1930s and 1940s swing music.
Dancers from the world-renowned Jiving Lindy Hoppers will perform their cabaret, then people can join in a dance class.
It is suitable for singles, couples, friends or the whole family.
Lindy Jazz spokesman Joo-Lee Stock said: "The emphasis is on having fun while you learn a new skill, keep fit and meet new friends."
Dance parties will be held from 7.30pm to 11.30pm on the second Monday of every month, with a Valentine Party scheduled for Sunday, February 11.
Tickets are £12 from Durham Tourist Information. Alternatively, contact 0191-383 9544 or visit the web site www.lindy-jazz.co.uk
