A NEW dementia cafe will open its doors later this week.
The Alzheimer’s Society will open its monthly Dementia Café at Stanley Park Care Home, in Wear Road, Stanley on Thursday (March 13) from 2pm to 4pm.
Aimed at people living in Derwentside, the cafe will give those affected by dementia a chance to share their experiences in an informal setting and seek advice from the charity’s staff.
Alzheimer’s Society support worker Cathy Clifford, who is based in Chester-le-Street, said: "The Dementia Café is the perfect place to give and receive support and provides the chance for people from Derwentside to come and spend a few hours with friendly and supportive people in a relaxed, social setting.
‘Our get-together at the cafe also represents an opportunity for the exchange of information and experiences, a sense of ‘going out’ with friends and family and there are talks on a wide range of topics."
For further details about the Stanley Dementia Café, which will be held on the second Thursday of the month, contact Cathy Clifford on 0191 3890400.
