THE new Bishop of Durham has dedicated a refurbished church.
Bishop Paul Butler performed the honour after preaching at St Cuthbert’s Church, in Shadforth, near Durham City, on Sunday night (March 16).
The ceremony took place at the church’s patronal service to mark St Cuthbert’s Day, which is Thursday, March 20.
Last year, the church’s old pews were replaced with comfortable seats, it was re-carpeted, extra glazing was added to its windows and its organ underwent some work.
The £25,000 project was completed last February.
