A BOOK club will welcome a visit by an author next week (Thursday, March 27).

Book Swap Durham has invited novelist Bryony Doran to its International Women’s Day event, to help them raise money for women’s rights charity Womankind Worldwide.

The group, which meets in West Rainton, near Durham, has been reading Ms Doran’s novel The China Bird.

Organiser Annette Morris said: “We’re hoping that this year’s event will raise even more than we did last year to help women around the world who are much less fortunate than us here in the West.

“We are very gratetful to Bryony for agreeing to join us and making it very special – it’s not every day you get the chance to ask a writer questions about their writing.”

The meeting will take place at Robin Hill, Benridge Bank, West Rainton, on Thursday, March 27, at 7.30pm.
