Something fishy's going on at St Cuthbert's

A WELL-known fishmonger has been cooking up a storm to promote healthy eating.
When St Cuthbert’s Hospice bosses were planning an educational event to mark international Nutrition Hydration Week, they turned to IK Fish owner Ian Kennedy to supply lunch.
The resulting event was held at the Merryoaks hospice, Durham City, today (Thursday, March 20), while the campaign week runs until Sunday.
Today’s event was hosted by Dr Pippa Lovell, a nutrition and palliative care expert at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, supported by people who have changed their diet and seen their health improve as a result.
“It’s a fact that 30 per cent of cancers are attributable to our diet and we know that if you have cancer, a poor diet can make your treatment more difficult,” Dr Lovell said.
“I want everyone to know that a change for the better in diet can help even very ill people have more energy.
“Equally, for the population as a whole, just adding some greens to your normal dinners and having some fruit can make all the difference.
“A lot of people feel tired all the time. There’s a common sense cure.”
The event included cookery demonstrations, tastings, meal suggestions and nutritional advice.
