A TEAM of talented Darlington gymnasts will compete in a national competition.

Members of Darlington Gymnastics Club will represent the north of England at the National Club Grades competition in Birmingham, in May, after a successful show in the North of England National Grades contest earlier this month.

Gymnasts Olivia Austin, Maya Taylor, Hope Godfrey and Lauren Roper will compete in the grade seven competition, while grade eight will be represented by Jodie Friebel and Jordan McKinnon for grade six.

Other winners at the competition included Chloe Hayman who was placed sixth in the grade eight contest, and Ellen Barnes who won seventh place in the grade seven competition.

The Darlington Gymnastics Team also won gold in the grade seven category.

Head coach Sally Austen said: “The girls worked extremely hard for the past year to achieve the standard required to qualify for the National Grades.

"The club is now looking forward to representing the north of England in Birmingham.”

The club is looking to recruit more budding gymnasts once they have expanded their premesis in Faverdale, in Darlington.
