A CELEBRATORY mass featuring eight priests is to be held to help a church mark its 80th anniversary.
St Thomas Apostle Church, on Byerley Road, Shildon, is celebrating its birthday with a mass and party on Thursday, April 3.
Father Michael Whalen, the church’s priest, is to be joined by seven other priests and all are due to speak during the service.
It is hoped that Thomas Wright, the first person to be christened at the church, will also be present.
A party will take place at Shildon Civic Hall at 8pm following the mass where Father John Marsland is to play the guitar.
Entry to the Civic Hall party is free and it is set to run until around 10.30pm.
