A WOMAN who feared she was going into a hospice to die is back home after three weeks’ care her husband believes saved her life.
Lynn Pearson, who has secondary breast cancer, is now back at home in Newton Hall, Durham, and feeling much better, after a stay at St Cuthbert’s Hospice.
One of the things hospice staff did was provide a surprise three-course, silver service lunch for Mrs Pearson and her husband, Matthew.
The retail manager and mother-of-two said: “I was very, very apprehensive coming in.
“But it isn’t what I expected. You hear the word hospice and you think that means you’re going there to die.
“But St Cuthbert’s has helped me to live; it has helped me and my family in so many ways.
“I didn’t have the strength to carry on my treatment. I couldn’t breathe, I needed oxygen and I needed medication to control my symptoms.
“But within 15 minutes of coming into St Cuthbert’s, I knew I’d be looked after properly. I’m going home because I’m so much better.”
Mr Pearson added: “I feel Lynn’s live has been saved in these last few weeks.”
