YOUNGSTERS let their creative juices flow at an arts and craft event this weekend.

They were taking part in the Farewell to Winter event, held by Scrap Studioarts at Borough Road Nursery School, in Darlington.

During the event the children created a horse mural from milk bottle tops to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Horse and craft stalls were also on offer.

Scrap Studioarts is run by artist Yvonne Preston at Borough Road Nursery School and helps youngsters and their families create artworks out of recycled items donated by local residents and businesses.

Ms Preston said: “The horse creation will stay on view on the fence in the wonderful Borough Road Nursery School garden, which is a fabulous space for their children to have fun and explore in.”

Scrap Studioarts also offers arty workshops and parties, including a creative family workshop every Saturday from 10.30am to noon. Entry is £3 and under fives go free.
