THE mayor of Darlington joined staff at a new funeral directors for a special service of dedication.

Clergy and staff at the Co-operative Funeralcare, on West Auckland Road, in Cockerton, Darlington, were joined by Darlington Mayor Charles Johnson for the service on Friday, March 7.

Roman Catholic minister, Father Jurgen Muller, Methodist minister, Reverend Selby White, Church of England minister, Father Damon Bage, and Captain Colin Bradshaw, of the Salvation Army, conducted the service the new funeral home, which opened in January.

Jenette Sisson, divisional manager of the Co-operative Funeralcare in Cockerton, said: “This investment in Cockerton will help us to provide a high quality service to local people.

“We are grateful to the local clergy and others for giving up their valuable time to dedicate the premises.”
