PUPILS have been learning about space with the help of a NASA medical advisor.

Dr Saralyn Mark visited Bishop Barrington School, in Bishop Auckland, today (Tuesday, March 25), to talk about how the students could be the first generation to travel to Mars.

Her specialism is in space medicine and she advises NASA on how to protect the astronauts from radiation from the sun and how to keep their bones healthy through exercise in space.

The pupils took part in a Q&A asking everything from is it possible to have a bath in space to how do you become an astronaut.
