POLICE APPEAL: Police are appealing for help after the window of a Citroen car was smashed in Shildon. The damage took place in an alley off Byerley Road, near to the Friend’s Meeting House, between 7pm and 8.15pm on Monday, March 24. Anyone who can help to trace the culprits should contact Shildon police on 101.

CIVIC DINNER: The Mayor of Chilton, Councillor Elizabeth Bruce, and her consort Councillor Alan Bruce are to hold a Mayor’s Civic Dinner. It is at Chilton and Windlestone Working Men’s Club on Thursday, April 17, at 7pm. There will be entertainment by the Betcha By Golly Wow group plus a raffle and a tombola. Proceeds will go to the local NSPCC and Chilton good causes. Tickets are £22 and they can be obtained from the Chilton Town Council offices or via 01388-721788.

FUN DAY: A junior knock-out football competition and a family fun day has been organised by Ferryhill Town Council, the Ferryhill 2000 Committee and Ferryhill Town Youth Football Club.
