RUBBLE dumped at a nature reserve is to be cleared by a town council who plans to use it to help locate two former coal wagons within Shildon.

A pile of broken up bricks and masonry has been left at the entrance of the Brusselton Reservoir Nature Reserve, at Brusselton.

Shildon Town Council owns the site, located near to the town, and it leases it to the New Shildon Angling Club for its members to use.

Mick Waterson, clerk to the town council, said: “As far as I am aware the angling club is responsible for the routine clearing of the site.

“I’ve not heard of any substantial items being dumped as the anglers would have been in touch to help move the items.

“This is the first time that anyone has mentioned the reservoir to the council in over a year.

“We will get rid of it and we can use it to help position two former coal wagons which are to go on show in Shildon.”
