A BAG-PACK by members of Hummersknott Badminton Club, at Sainsbury’s in Victoria Road, Darlington, raised £565.31 for Sport Relief.

The club is continuing its preparations for two upcoming international tours - an Easter trip to Darlington’s twin towns of Mulheim and Amiens with additional matches in Leverkusen, Gelsenkirchen and Paris and a July trip for older students which will take in various places in Italy before moving on to Athens.

Players are responsible for their own costs and have done many hours of fundraising in recent months.

The Sport Relief bag pack was carried out in return for earlier fundraisers for the trips.

GHOST HUNT: Self-proclaimed psychic Dean ‘Midas’ Maynard will hold a charity ghost hunt at Darlington Civic Theatre, on Friday, May 9, with all proceeds going to St Teresa’s Hospice. He said: “It is a ghost-hunt with a twist, as Ghostface from the Scream films, will be hiding in the theatre, ready to jump out on unsuspecting souls.” Mr Maynard is auctioning memorabilia from the Scream films, with proceeds also going to the charity. The QE group will spend 14 days in Nepal, based within the local community and working with children in an orphanage close to Kathmandu. To fund the project the group has been busy raising funds through various activities such as cake sales, bag packing, bungee jumping and a ball.
