POLICE are hunting suspects following a two-day spree of sat nav thefts from cars across Darlington.

In one incident on Sunday, seven Volkswagen cars were broken into at the Lookers garage on West Auckland Road and several sat nav devices were stolen from them.

The thefts happened at about 10.20am and later the same day a further two vehicles were broken into at Evans Halshaw on Croft Road some time after 5pm and into the next morning.

On this occasion the thieves left empty-handed.

However, criminals struck again on Monday when a sat nav was stolen from a vehicle on Vane Terrace at about 10pm.

A man was seen running off with the stolen sat nav and is described as in his late teens to early 20s, about 5’ 9” tall, wearing a dark hooded top with two light coloured stripes at the waist line.

The man had the hood of his top up at the time.

Another sat nav was stolen at The Firs at 10.25pm on Monday and a man was seen running in the direction of Barmpton Lane, although no description of him was available.

A Darlington police spokesman said: “If you have any information as to who may be responsible, or if you saw someone in the area matching the description of the man at Vane Terrace, please could you contact us on our non-emergency number 101.”
