DARLINGTON residents are being encouraged to hang out the bunting and organise a street party this summer.

The council is supporting The Eden Project’s national Big Lunch campaign which seeks to bring communities together for open parties across the country on June 1.

Residents interested in organising a Big Lunch event should visit darlington.gov.uk/pesag for information on applying for a road closure and on using council land for organised public events.

PROG ROCK: Progressive Rock covers band Prognosis are at The Forum in Darlington on Friday for an evening of classic tracks.

The band will play a two-hour set featuring some of the best prog rock from the 70s and 80s including Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Supertramp, ELO and many more.

CAFE VANDALISED: Police are appealing for information after a window was smashed at Crusty’s Café in Northgate, Darlington, at the weekend.

The incident is believed to have taken place at the premises, next to KFC, shortly after 3am on Sunday, April 6.

The suspect is described as a large, balding man, wearing a blue t-shirt and jeans.
