PEOPLE are being urged to dig out their wedding dresses and photos for a special one-off exhibition this summer.

Helmsley will be hosting a ten-day wedding dress festival in the town’s historic All Saints’ Church from August 1.

The Reverend Tim Robinson is asking people to loan wedding dresses which may be gathering dust in their attic, for the one-off exhibition.

The church is hoping to host a display representing weddings over the last century and already has dresses from as early as 1916 to put on show, along with archived photos and other wedding memorabilia.

“We’d like to be able to show how styles and weddings have changed, whilst the church remains steadfast amongst it all,” said Mr Robinson.

“Everyone loves to look at weddings, and Helmsley is such a lovely place to get married, it would be great to get lots of photos of weddings held in the town over the years to put on show.

“We’d also be very grateful for any mannequins people would be able to lend us to use as part of the display.”
