Durham County Council planners are being asked to grant planning permission for a first floor extension to be built at the front and side of a house in Castlegields, Bournmoor, near Chester-le-Street.

Tai Chi: A weekly class in Tai Chi aimed at beginners is held on Tuesday mornings from 9.50 to 10.50am in the Chester-le-Street Community Centre, Newcastle Bank. The cost is £2.

History group: A history group meets at the Brockwell Centre, Pelton Fell, near Chester-le-Street, on Tuesday afternoons between 1.30 and 3.30pm. For further details about the group call the centre on 0191-389 3399.

Bowls club: An indoor carpet bowls clubs meets tomorrow on Tuesdays at the Chester-le-Street Community Centre, Newcastle Bank, between 1.30 and 4pm. Beginners are welcome. Call 0191-388 4752 for details Coffee morning : A coffee morning featuring Fair Trade produce will be held on Tuesday between 9 and 11.30am in Chester-le-Street Methodist Church, North Burns, opposite the town’s market place.
