A DARLINGTON community centre is starting to notice the impact of eye-catching signage created to promote its facilities.

For the past 12 months, Darlington Building Society staff, managers and directors have given up their time to carry out voluntary work at Red Hall Community Centre.

During that time, the gardens have been tidied up and completely transformed and the large gazebo in the garden has been repainted.

While the work was being carried out, community centre trustee Councillor Martin Landers asked if the building society would be able to help design and produce some signage promoting the many community activities available, including venue hire and volunteering opportunities.

Josh Palin, sales and marketing officer at the building society took up the challenge and not only helped design the signage but also volunteered to help design a new logo for the centre as well as redesigning its website.

Darlington Building Society worked with RDW Creative, the Yarm-based marketing and creative agency.

The agency provided its design and creative skills free of charge.

On seeing the new signs in place for the first time, Mr Palin said: “This was a very interesting project where we were given free rein to design a new logo and signage from scratch.”

Coun Landers added: “Darlington Building Society has helped transform the Centre’s fortunes. Room bookings have increased, the garden looks fantastic and we have had nothing but positive feedback about the signage and new logo.”
