POLICE in Seaham are appealing for information after a handbag snatch yesterday (Tuesday, April 23).

A police spokesman said a man removed a 21-year-old woman’s handbag from her baby’s pushchair as she was taking the child inside an address on Marlbrough, Seaham, to visit a family member.

The incident happened between 10.45am and 10.50am.

The bag was black with a gold zip along the top and contained the victim’s purse with credit cards, a Samsung s3 mobile phone and other valuable items.

The man or youth responsible is described as being possibly of mixed race and was wearing a navy coat, jeans and black trainers.

It is believed that he ran off towards the Church Street area of Seaham.
