POLICE are investigating an assault on a man with learning difficulties.
Officers in Whitby are appealing for witnesses after the 23-year-old was approached by a man near the George Hotel in Castlegate between 9pm and 10pm on Sunday, March 16.
The man was verbally abusive to him and then hit him on the head. He suffered minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.
PC Tom Rollinson, from Whitby Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This was an apparently unprovoked attack on a vulnerable member of our community.
“If you witnessed the assault or can identify the man responsible, I urge you to contact the police straight away.”
