The “Bard of Barnsley” poet Ian Macmillan and award-winning cartoonist Tony Husband will be performing A Cartoon History of Here at Carperby Village Institute on Friday, May 16 from 7pm. There will be a raffle and licensed bar and proceeds will go to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Tickets are £13 in advance or £15 on the door.
BOWLING WEEKEND: Stokesley Bowling Club, opposite the town’s leisure centre on Broughton Road, will be holding an open weekend on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11, between 1.30pm and 5pm. The club is looking for new members of all ages and abilities and is inviting people to give the sport a try over its open weekend. Anyone wanting to take part should bring a pair of flat-soled shoes.
BOOK SALE: A coffee morning and book sale is taking place in Constable Burton in the village reading rooms on Saturday, May 10, from 10am until midday.
