FORMER pupil Anita Atkinson is formally launching her new book about the history of Wolsingham Grammar School this week.
Anita, now 57 and a governor of Wolsingham School and Community College for the past 22 years, wrote A Further History of Wolsingham Grammar School to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the school this year.
The Weardale school opened in 1614 to teach local boys the rudiments of Christianity and grammar.
She used the feedback from her first history to make her new work even more comprehensive and to include more anecdotes and stories.
Anita, 57, from Harperley Hall, in Weardale, will launch her new book between 7pm and 9pm on Thursday May 22 in the Lower School hall at Wolsingham School and Community College.
The County Durham school’s 400th anniversary will be marked by a wide-ranging programme of events during the weekend of Saturday and Sunday July 19-20.
