A BAND and youth organisation are quids-in thanks to the mayor of Ferryhill, who raised £3,400 during his year in office.
Cllr Ken Campbell shared the money between his two chosen charities- Ferryhill Town Band and St Luke’s Youth Groups.
Cllr Campbell and his consort, Ann Kells, presented cheques for £1,700 to both organisations at the annual town meeting on Thursday, May 8.
Fundraising over the past 12 months featured quiz nights organised by St Luke’s Church, concerts by Ferryhill Town Band, a charity dinner and tombolas.
Cllr Campbell said: “I would like to thank the people of Ferryhill who have supported me over the last year, either by coming along to support events or by donating prizes, without this support it would never have been possible to raise this amount for my charities.”
Ferryhill Town Council will appoint a mayor for 2014-15 at its annual general meeting at Ferryhill Town Hall tonight at 7pm.
