A SOLICITOR and cycling novice is to embark on a night-time bike challenge to help raise funds for three cancer charities.

Nicola Neilson, a partner and commercial property expert at Latimer Hinks Solicitors, in Priestgate, Darlington is preparing for the 62-mile Woman v Cancer Ride the Night challenge in London.

It will raise funds for Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

The event will see thousands of women take part in a bike ride from Royal Windsor racecourse and through London on Saturday, May 31.

Mrs Neilson, who started training in April after not cycling since she was a child, aims to complete the course in six and a half hours.

She has so far raised more than £260 for the various charities, surpassing the event’s minimum sponsorship target of £199.

She said: “It will be a great personal challenge for me, but is one that I am determined to complete as it will benefit three fantastic causes.

“The three charities do an amazing amount of work to raise awareness and I am delighted to help raise money for them all.

“I would like to thank everyone for their kind donations and support so far.”

Anne Elliott, marketing partner at Latimer Hinks Solicitors, added: “The fact that Nicola has only started cycling recently is a testament to her character that she is willing to participate in such a demanding race for these vital charities.

“I am sure that Nicola will embrace the challenge, and I would like to wish her all the best with the bike ride.”
