AN actress will return to her hometown for a night of Dirty Dancing next week.

Darlington’s Victoria McCabe will take to the stage at the Civic Theatre on Friday, June 6.

The actress moved to London six years ago to pursue a career in musical theatre and has since starred in productions including Footloose and won Disney’s Search for a Star.

The 24-year-old’s latest role is as feisty Linda in An Evening of Dirty Dancing: The Tribute Show, now in its fourth UK tour.

A graduate of the prestigious London Studio Centre, Ms McCabe said she was excited to be returning to the theatre where she honed her craft as a child, performing with The Tiffany School of Dance.

She said: “It’s amazing to be performing at the Civic Theatre where I fell in love with theatre and was inspired to go on professionally.

“It’s also exciting to be performing in front of family and friends who sometimes can’t travel to see me in other productions.”

The show will see performers pay tribute to hits from the cult 1980s film including Big Girls Don’t Cry, Hungry Eyes and (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.

Ms McCabe said: “The show is really high energy, interactive and fun to perform in.

“We are all having such a great time rehearsing and can’t wait to come to Darlington for our opening night because, as I’ve always said, North-East audiences are the most friendly.”

Tickets for the show are £19 or £17 for concessions. To book, visit darlingtoncivic.co.uk or call 01325-486555.
