GREEN-THEMED fun was had by all who visited a Darlington park at the weekend.

The Green Fair took place at Eastbourne Park and featured stalls and attractions with an environmental theme.

Special attractions included ferrets and a goat which were a big hit with young visitors.

The event was organised by the Lascelles Community Partnership made up of councillors and residents of the Lascelles and Bank Top wards.

Lascelles councillor Helen Crumbie, who helped organise the event, said the partnership voted to hold the event for a second year after last year’s debut fair proved a hit with residents.

She said: “It went really well.

“We had nature trails, foraging sessions and planting hanging baskets with the Groundworks team which the children then took away with them.

“People seemed to really enjoy it, the children especially, and it is a good community feeling; it gets people together and chatting.”

Cllr Crumbie said that she hoped the partnership would be able to stage the fair again next year.
