A CARE home in north Durham has held a party to commemorate its 30th anniversary.

Residents of The Rosemount Home, on Medomsley Road, in Consett, were treated to a buffet lunch and live music from singers Rosemary Smith, Val Collier and Pat Boustead, as well Consett Brass.

Over 100 family and friends and people with a connection to the care home also attended the event last week.

Deputy manager Kerry Bell said: “The residents loved it. It was a lovely day.

“There were lots of people here and everyone who came seemed to have enjoyed it. There were lots of people who have had something to do with Rosemount over the years.”

Elsewhere, a barbecue and entertainment was laid on at Castle Court, Annfield Plain, to celebrate the first anniversary of a £3.6m re-development.

The sheltered accommodation is designed for the over 55’s and consists of 41 luxury one and two-bedroom apartments with a hairdresser’s, an IT and cinema suite and a large, fully landscaped central courtyard.

Angela Hodgson, Older Persons Services Manager at Derwentside Homes, said: “It’s fantastic to celebrate the developments first anniversary with our tenants. “Castle Court is absolutely outstanding and it’s great to see so many tenants enjoying themselves.”
