Summer festival fun
2:48pm Wednesday 11th June 2014 in News
SADBERGE is gearing up for a day of fun in the sun at its annual summer festival on June 21.
There will be a host of attractions starting with a Morris dancing workshop in the village hall which kicks off the festival at 10am.
A children’s drumming group will perform on the village green at 12.45pm before the Mayor of Darlington makes the official opening address at 1pm.
The fair will feature a variety of stalls on the green, along with performances by Darlington Youth Band, games, pony rides and vintage vehicles.
The theme is ‘summer fun’ as the event takes place on midsummer’s day.
Festival committee press officer, Anne Alderson, said: “This is a lovely event which brings the village community together.
“We are, of course, praying for fine weather, however if it rains a reduced programme will take place in the village hall.
“We look forward to welcoming all the performers, traders, dance sides and visitors to Sadberge.”
As well as refreshments at the fair, food will also be served at The Tuns at Sadberge and The Buck, with entertainment from The Feedbacks and morris dancers during the afternoon.
Breakfast buns, lunches and strawberry cream teas will be provided at the village hall along with music by The Jazztones, Dave Ward and guests.
St Andrews Church will host an exhibition of local art, crafts and flower arrangements, and a children’s treasure hunt.
