CHILDREN from seven schools have joined forces for a stage show.

The Selfish Giant, a one-night only production at the Gala Theatre, in Durham City, featured youngsters from Durham High School for Girls, Howletch Lane Primary, Ludworth Primary, Finchale Primary, Bowburn Juniors, Shincliffe CofE Primary and Acre Rigg Academy.

This is the seventh consecutive year the high school and local primary schools have come together for such a performance.

Rehearsals took place in the schools for some time before the full cast was united on Saturday and Monday (June 16).

Teachers, parents and friends were treated to an evening of song, drama and dance tonight.

High school headteacher Lynne Renwick said: “The Selfish Giant is a marvellous opportunity for Durham High School for Girls to work in partnership with local primary schools and give young people the opportunity to perform in a professional theatre.”
