A LANDLORD is hitting the road to raise money for one of his tenants.
Billy Morgan, director of B&K Developments which owns City West Business Park, in Meadowfield, near Durham City, is in training for the Selby Three Swans Sportive, a charity bike ride which starts and ends in Selby, North Yorkshire, on Sunday, August 31.
The 62-year-old hopes to cover the 100-mile route in just five-and-a-half hours and he is doing it to raise money to help buy a platform lift for a tenant on his business park, Good Word Ministries church.
Mr Morgan, who will cycle with two friends, hopes to raise several thousand pounds towards the £11,000 cost of the lift.
Church pastor Didi Dolopei said: “The platform lift is of great benefit to the church and the people it serves, as the church has a ground and a first floor.
“Services are held on the upper floor and without the lift the church will not be able to serve everyone, including those with special needs.
“Having a lift allows the church to fulfil its commitment to the community without discriminating against any person.”
The church, attended by Kieran Richardson when he played for Sunderland AFC, runs a gym, to which Mr Morgan has donated equipment.
